How it works

  1. 1

Consumers submit their vehicles to BTT

Rather than relying on one trade-in offer, consumers submit their vehicle to BTT and make it available to verified dealers across the marketplace.

  2. 2

BTT reviews & qualifies the vehicle

We review the vehicle details, photos, and requested reserve, add the information dealers need, and make sure the reserve is within the wholesale range before the vehicle goes live.

  3. 3

The vehicle goes live to verified dealers

Approved vehicles go live together in our daily 4-hour auction, and dealers with matching saved searches are notified. Save a listing for 1-hour and 15-minute reminders, use proxy bidding, get notified if you’re outbid, or bid live right up until all auctions close at 5 PM.

  4. 4

The winning dealer buys direct from the consumer

Connect directly with the seller, arrange pickup and payment, and confirm the vehicle matches how it was represented.

  5. 5

    Complete the deal

After pickup and payment, close out the transaction on BTT to earn rewards, build your reviews and dealer history, and strengthen confidence in your dealership across the marketplace.

Dealer FAQs

BTT is free to join, with no subscription fees or minimums. When you place a bid, we place a $500 hold on the card you have on file. If you win, the $500 buyer fee is charged to that card unless you use 500 BTT Rewards to cover it. If you don’t win, the hold is released.

No percentages, no escalating fees — just one flat $500 buyer fee.

You earn BTT Rewards every time you use the marketplace — whether you buy, sell, or list a vehicle. Once you reach 500 BTT Rewards, you can use them in place of the $500 buyer fee on a future purchase.

The winning dealer is responsible for completing the transaction and taking possession of the vehicle. If you want to confirm the vehicle matches the listing before paying, you’ll need to go to the vehicle, verify that it is as represented, complete payment, and then take the vehicle with you.

If the seller agrees to bring the vehicle to the dealership, the verification and payment can happen there. In either case, pickup or delivery takes place only after payment is completed.

Accepted payment methods are shown on each listing. After you win, coordinate payment and pickup directly with the seller. Payment and pickup are expected to be completed within three days of the auction ending. If you’d like to see the vehicle before paying, simply arrange a time with the seller that works for both of you.

Title and lien information is disclosed in each listing. From there, handle the transaction just as you would with a consumer trading a vehicle in at your dealership — follow your normal process for verifying the title, confirming any payoff, paying the lienholder when applicable, and completing the title transfer.

If you identify a significant issue before payment that wasn’t disclosed in the listing, work directly with the seller to reach an amicable resolution. If you’re unable to resolve it, don’t make payment for the vehicle. Document the issue through the BTT closeout process so the circumstances can be reviewed and eligibility for a refund of the BTT buyer fee can be determined.

If you’re the winning bidder when the auction closes, you’re committed to completing the purchase. If you identify a significant undisclosed difference before payment, work directly with the seller to resolve it and use the BTT closeout process if you’re unable to do so.

Once the reserve has been met and you’re the winning bidder, the seller is expected and motivated to complete the sale — they set the reserve and agreed in advance to sell the vehicle at that price or higher. If the seller does not complete the transaction, use the BTT closeout process to document what happened and provide the relevant details so we can review the situation and determine eligibility for a refund of the BTT buyer fee.

The integrity of the marketplace is critical to everyone’s success. Every vehicle is reviewed before it goes live, and we only list vehicles when the requested reserve falls within the wholesale range.
